Why Can’t I Rewrite a Package Agreement?

As a user with permission to rewrite package agreements, you may need to understand why an agreement is not eligible for a rewrite. This article will outline the reasons why an package agreement may not be eligible to be rewritten and provide alternate options.

These are the possible reasons an agreement cannot be rewritten:

  • if the agreement has been completed
  • if the agreement has been cancelled
  • if the agreement is currently frozen
  • if the agreement has a future freeze date
  • if the agreement has a future cancellation date applied
  • if the agreement has a credit applied to future payments
  • if the agreement has no more scheduled payments AND does not renew
  • if the agreement has any invoice in an unpaid, delinquent, or chargeback status

Here are the actions required or alternatives available for each reason:

  • an agreement has been completed

It is not possible to create a rewrite for an agreement that has been completed. The only option would be to create a new agreement.

  • an agreement has been cancelled

It is not possible to create a rewrite for an agreement that has been cancelled. The only option would be to create a new agreement.

  • an agreement is currently frozen

Your options are to either:

1. Modify the freeze end date to end sooner, and then one the agreement is unfrozen, initiate the freeze.

2. Cancel the current agreement and create a new one.

  • an agreement has a future freeze date

Delete the future freeze for the agreement and re-apply it to the rewritten agreement, if desired.

  • an agreement has a future cancellation date applied

The only option here is to cancel the current agreement and to create a new agreement.

If the Member's package does not contain a per-invoice cancellation fee, it is possible to change the cancellation date, yet it is not possible to delete the cancellation date.

If the Member's package contains a per-invoice cancellation fee, it is not possible to change the cancellation date.

  • an agreement has a credit applied to future payments

It is not possible to create a rewrite for an agreement that has a credit applied to future payments. The only option would be to create a new agreement.

  • an agreement has no more scheduled payments AND the agreement does not renew

The only option would be to create a new agreement as there are no further payments on the agreement's term to rewrite.

  • an agreement has any invoice in an unpaid, delinquent, or chargeback status

Unpaid, delinquent, and chargeback invoices must be paid or written off before initiating a rewrite. Once all invoice are in a paid or written-off status, the agreement can be rewritten.
