PT Commission FAQ's

Follow

Commissions make up a significant percentage of Salespeople and Trainers’ pay. However, accurately crediting a commission can be a complicated task as each is determined by its event’s many, varying details.

Listed below is a collection of unique, commission-specific issues. Each answer provides Club OS’ recommended best practice.

‘How Do I Update Commissions?’

This depends on when the club intends for its updated commission to take effect.

For Immediate Effect: Within the Set Commission section (located in Package Setup’s ‘Member Service Commission’ tab), set the updated commission’s Effective Date as the first date of the employee’s current pay period.

For Future Effect: Within the Set Commission section (located in Package Setup’s ‘Member Service Commission’ tab), set the updated commission’s Effective Date as the first date of the employee’s intended, future pay period.

‘How Do I Prevent Trainers From Getting Paid Double?’

When creating packages, pay particular attention to the Set Commission section (located in Package Setup’s ‘Member Service Commission’ tab). ‘Per Event’ and ‘Per Attendee’ do not possess an ‘either/or’ relationship. Filling both fields pays a commission twice.

‘How Do I Transfer Sales Commission to Another Trainer When the Old Trainer Leaves?’

When a trainer should no longer receive sales commission on an agreement, the club can change the Salesperson on the agreement to accommodate for sales commission going forward. Member Service Commission is controlled by the "Event Owner" on a calendar event. As long as new trainer is selected, the commission will show on the Commission Report for them.

‘How Do I Split Commission Between Two Alternating Trainers?’

Commission is awarded to whichever employee is saved as the event’s owner. Make sure to
accurately appoint each Trainer as the owner of their own, alternating events.

‘How Do I Split Member Service Commission Between Two Trainers Training Simultaneously?’

This depends on the total number of events contained within the agreement.

If It Is An Even Number of Events: Commission is awarded to whichever employee is saved as the event’s owner. Divide the events evenly between the Trainers and appoint each as the event owner over their own half of the events. Both will have received equal commission by the agreement’s end.

If It Is An Odd Number of Events: Make one Trainer the solitary event owner over each of the agreement’s events. At the end of each pay period, refer to the Commission Report -specifically, to the event-owning Trainer’s tab. Find the Group Commission table and add up each of the agreement’s event’s commissions. Once they are totaled, divide the sum in half and pay each Trainer the resulting cost. Do not forget to report these figures in the club’s own records.
